5Q's w/Alicia Albares "Solstice" Director
#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?
'Solstice' is a summer-like short film that will remind you of those specific moments of your childhood that marked you forever.
#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
Solstice is a short film that talks about growing up and also about taking into consideration the feelings and perceptions of children. It also talks about love and how difficult it is sometimes to love well, and how it is important to understand that each person loves in its way depending on how she or he has learnt to do so.
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
I have studied Audiovisual Communication and a Film Direction Maste. This is my third fiction shortfilm and I have also directed two other documentary shortfilms. Furthermore, I have participated in the direction department, in roles such us Script Supervisor and Assistant Director of other shortfilms, spots, music films and feature films.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
How difficult it is sometimes to bring memories into movies. How we have to recreate them to make them comprehensible, especially when we talk about childhood feelings.
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
I expect the film to be seen as much as possible and I hope it makes people discuss about it and it makes them think. I hope it can bring me more opportunities to make other films and to participate in other projects.
