5Q's w/Eric Dyson "Appy Days" Director

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

Smart devices making you dumb? Forgotten by technology, “try hard” dad tries to up his game to get closer to family. What could go wrong?

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

This movie is a 98% true story. It should remind us to look up from our devices once in a while to appreciate who and what’s around us.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

This is my second film to run at the BSFF. I feel like I’m on the older spectrum of indi film making. My career started out as a PA. Most of my days are spent working as a camera operator. I have just recently finished season 2 of an Amazon show called HUNTERS. I have also just attached a few actors to my first feature script. With a ton of luck, I hope to get funding.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Surround yourself with people who know more than you do. Remember to put your ego aside and listen to suggestions. In the end YOU are the one represented by what’s on the screen so you also have to trust your gut. Be nice. Say please and thanks. And give people yummy food.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

I have the optimism of an 8 year old. I have a body of work that I am very proud of. Although my short film APPY DAYS is in the tail end of its’ festival run, it may have a future as a “proof of concept” for a series. I’ll keep writing until they pull the pen from my cold dead hand.
