5Q's w/John Brown, "Reminisce" Director, Writer, and Producer

QUESTION#1: Can you describe your film in one sentence?:

An emotional love story.

QUESTION#2: What would you like the BSFF audience to know about your film that they wouldn't consider from it's title?:

There are more layers to it than you think. I believe the story unfolds in such a way that it becomes more impactful as you watch.

QUESTION#3: Can you tell us about yourself and your filmmaking career?:

Hi! My name is John Field Brown, and I'm 18 years old as a freshman in college. (However, I made this short film during my senior year of high school.) "Reminisce" is my 3rd short film I've ever made, and I'm currently in post-production for my upcoming short film "Proof of Desire". I've been interested in the idea of telling stories through film since 7th grade, but it wasn't until my junior year of high school that I decided this was what I wanted to do as a career. Up till this point, I was completely self-taught (my high school did not offer any film classes). I mainly learned through trial and error, YouTube videos, and filmmaking podcasts. I hope to continue making movies and eventually work as a writer/director/producer in the film industry.

QUESTION#4: What have you learned in the process of making your film?:

I learn so much more with every short film I make. From "Reminisce", I learned many more aspects of lighting, cinematography, budgeting, continuity, pre-production, production design, costume design, and how impactful music can make a film.

QUESTION#5: What's does the future hold for this film and you?:

As of now, "Reminisce" is almost finished with its festival fun, and it's been a huge success with 19 official selections, 6 in-person screenings, and "Best Student Film" as well as "Best Mirco Short" awards. "Reminisce" was a huge step toward the right direction and pathway I want to pursue. This short film has brought me to film festivals such as El Paso, TX and Knoxville, TN. I plan to continue making movies in one way or another for the rest of my life.
