#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it?

Deviant sheds light on a dark era of gay history: electroshock therapy. But the film's pro-faith message offers hope to the gay community and beyond.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

There are many members of the gay community who live fulfilling lives as both openly gay people, and people of religious faith.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

Deviant was my undergraduate senior thesis film at San Diego State. After taking a year off post-graduation, I decided to continue my filmmaking education at UCLA, where I'm currently earning an M.F.A. in Film Directing.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Our team spent months piecing Deviant together in post. The biggest thing I took from the process was how much of a difference editing plays in telling stories. The original cut of our film looks vastly different from the cut we eventually finalized.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

I'm honored to screen our project at the Borrego Springs Film Festival, as this will be our last public screening of the film. Deviant has enjoyed a productive two years on the festival circuit, and we plan to distribute the film online in early 2020. Thank you BSFF team for showcasing our work! Moving forward, I am excited to continue telling stories as a UCLA Bruin!
