#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 280 characters?
Have you ever wished you could have a second chance at something? Well, there are tireless volunteers that try to ensure animals always get a second chance. These people are thanked with happy tail wags and wet nose kisses.
#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
72 hours. There are only three days before shelter animals will be killed if no one claims them. Without the determined efforts of animal rescue pilot Paul Steklenski, many of these beautiful animals would not live another day and have a chance at a better life.
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
Alicia Wszelaki and Matthew Nothelfer are Path 88 Productions. Both Matt and I are visual creatives that have been working in the media industry for three decades. Our passion is telling other people’s stories. We strive to be involved on a personal level with our subjects while also being inspired by their lives.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
Inspiration can hit at any time. When something feels right, go for it. The idea for Flying Fur came while flipping through a magazine in a waiting room: “Guy Flies Abandoned Animals to Freedom.” After reaching out to Paul, we were eventually on our way to his home in Pennsylvania. Bonus: we got to do flying and filming on rescue flights with all the cute adoptable pooches!
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
Flying Fur will be screening at film festivals and meet-up events nationally and globally. We will be traveling with the documentary to help spread the news about animal rescue and adoption!
