5Q's w/Fabian Martin "400 Miles" Producer/Writer
#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?
"400 Miles" is a story of forgiveness, plain and simple. After the election, it's time for some healing. This film is the perfect remedy.
#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
The film is not a travelogue film, it is about the power of forgiveness. Our tagline reads "the greatest distance between two people is time."
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
I am an award-winning filmmaker but never went to film school. Educator by day, writer by night, I am self-taught through the magical world of the internet and by simply surrounding myself with the best people I could find.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
If you are waiting for "all the lights to turn green" before making a film, I've got a message for you. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! This film was four years in the making but when we finally put our heads down to actually do it, it came together in less than three months. The key was just finding the right people with the same vision and passion for telling a story. That is now my mantra.
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
The film continues to play the film festival circuit, winning numerous awards. After it completes its tour, I would like to donate the rights to use the film to counselors and LGBTQ centers. I believe the film can be a useful tool in helping families deal with issues of sexuality, at the least, opening the door for that conversation.
