#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?
A journey of 3K miles through Alaska. A young girl and traumatic events. A fatherly relationship. It will surprise you where it goes.
#2: What do you want the audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
It’s really about healing, and the healing of a relationship in nature, how total acceptance between two people can be really healing. There’s an important social issue in the film that I would definitely like audiences to consider. I don’t feel that it’s been represented well enough in movies and TV.
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
When I decided to go to graduate school, I applied to both business schools and film schools, and I got into some of both. When it came time to decide, my mom said, "I certainly hope you made the right choice." I said, "No, Mom, I definitely haven’t: I’m going to film school." I made a lot of short films at NYU as writer and director, sort of cut my teeth, made mistakes and learned along the way. Finally it came time to say, "okay, this is going to be my baby," and put all that effort into one movie.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
Naturally, one would do the best they could with a feature, but I think there is a perspective of humility, care, and awareness that is crucial. I am student of film, and always will be. There is nothing I can or could have pointed to that insured Wildlike turning out to be a great (much less good) movie. My persistent message to myself is that in order not to fail in any number of ways, logistically and creatively, is that I must be diligent, humble, second-guess everything, and go above and beyond in all areas.
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
I have all hopes in our On Demand platform. I think it's the future. I think that the model that's working now, with the day and date release, is the way of the future. I love going to the cinema, I think people always will, and I hope they do, but I think the model we have is perfect for right now.
I’m writing number two. I’ve got something. It’s sort of exciting. It’s a thriller. I’m not gonna reveal it till the time is right.
