An incredible social comedy-drama, from first-time writer/director Cord Jefferson, writer on The Good Place and HBO’s Watchmen.

This satire follows a frustrated novelist-professor, Jeffrey Wright, who writes a satire of stereotypical “Black” books, only for it to be mistaken for serious literature and published to high sales and critical praise.  The film also stars Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae and Sterling K. Brown, and was named one of the top 10 films of 2023 by the American Film Institute.  It received five Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and it won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Remember, all BSFI movie screenings presented at BSPAC are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.   All screenings on selected Wednesdays start at 7pm.  Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
