THINGS IN COMMON

What do all these people have in common?

At one time, they all stayed at the Hoberg Desert Resort, today The Palms Hotel.  In the 1950's this place was a hot spot for movie stars and socialites who wanted to escape the inquisitive eyes of an adoring public. They flew in on private planes and landed on the hotel's own private runway.  Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift and others found the freedom here to do as they pleased, with whom they pleased, into the wee hours of the night. The Los Angeles Times later referred to this hotel has having "a very wet bar."
