The popular TV show X-Files filmed in Borrego multiple times. In 2000, they used Anza-Borrego Desert State Headquarters as a set. The HQ appeared in season 8 as a school for the deaf. The production crew stayed in the area for 18 days filming nights/weekends, and the park staff used the building during business hours.
The X-Files also filmed at Font’s Point for a dramatic "fall-off-the-cliff-scene." Shots were initially acquired at Font’s Point and then finished 30 miles south in Split Mt Canyon. The special effects folks made the scene look totally seamless on the screen.
In year 2002 the series concluded with scenes filmed east of Borrego at Tectonic Wash. They built a reproduction of an Anasazi Ruin for the explosive finale.
