Feature Presentation | THE BSFF FILM SERIES
10 years ago the very first BSFF was initiated by a faithful group of Borergo Springs cinema aficionados. They chose to screen the iconic war films (shot near Borrego Springs) “Desert Rats” and “The Desert Fox.” The idea was to gauge whether or not a film festival was a viable option for our community.
It was a huge hit and here we are a decade later!
In homage to those early festival days, the BSFF is re-screening “Desert Rats,” one of the films that started it all! Watch this Hollywood classic war movie, shot right here in our backyard!
The Desert Rats
In North Africa, German Field Marshal Rommel (James Mason) and his troops have successfully fended off British forces, and now intend to take Tobruk, an important port city. A ramshackle group of Australian reinforcements sent to combat the Germans is put under the command of British Captain MacRoberts (Richard Burton). The unruly Aussies immediately clash with MacRoberts, a gruff, strict disciplinarian, however this unorthodox team must band together to protect Tobruk from the German forces.
