Director Biography - Shaina Feinberg
Shaina Feinberg is a filmmaker from New York City. Her six-part series, Dinette, which follows a group of women and gender nonconforming friends, was produced by BRIC Arts Media, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival (2018) and Frameline (2019) and was shouted out by Pulitzer Prize-winning TV writer Emily Nussbaum in The New Yorker. Shaina’s short film, Shiva, which is a hybrid of improvised comedy and actual grief, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival (2017). Her follow-up to that piece, a 60-minute film called Senior Escort Service has been making the festival rounds and winning awards - including the Visionary Award at Cinequest Film Festival (2019) and has been picked up for distribution by Random Media. Shaina wrote about the making of this movie in on op-ed for The New York Times. Shaina was a 2018 Film Lab resident at Space on Ryder Farms. She co-wrote and directed a 300-minute original series for the Amazon company, Audible, called Aliens of Extraordinary Ability that was released in July, 2019. She is currently directing another original series for Audible - a 500-minute drama set in 1970. In June, 2019, Shaina was listed as 1 of 25 queer filmmakers to watch by Indiewire.
