5Q's w/ Harri James "O’Kelley Legends: 2e Behind the Scenes" Director

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

A home-movie style documentary exploring the production of a monologue show fundraiser with “twice exceptional” students— gifted & disabled.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

Our film is uplifting and educational, chronicling the journey of putting on a fundraiser of original monologues that were written by Jordan O’Kelley when he was in fourth grade. You’ll learn about the acting and casting process and about what it’s like to be “twice exceptional,” or “2e.”

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

I’m an LA-based filmmaker and actress, who has worked primarily in TV and film as a script supervisor for the last 30 years while raising my three twice exceptional kids.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

The biggest lesson I learned in getting my film made was that my 2e kids are great at problem solving and finding creative solutions.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

I hope to continue the conversation around 2e and strength-based education through The O’Kelley Lab, and with my family, presenting our film at education conferences. Our hope is that our film finds its audience and that it can be a catalyst for parents to follow their children’s lead. We hope it is entertaining, inspiring, and healing for 2e families by learning about the difference 2e and strength-based education can make.
