5Q's w/: Aloha Lee "Indefinitely" Director, Writer
QUESTION#1: What excited you the most when making this film?: - Featuring a music that I love
- Playing with tone & colors that I love
- And telling an unapologetic love story
QUESTION#2: What was the most significant film you've seen AT THE THEATER in 2024, and how did it influence your filmmaking?: To be honest I really didn’t have time to go watch a movie at the theaters while working on this film. Every moment was crunch. But I did watch ‘Inside Out2’ in the theaters after finishing my film, and it definitely inspired me as a storyteller- that I want to tell compelling stories that speak truth to our hearts. You’ll see how it affected me in my next film!
QUESTION#3: What's an obvious and not-so-obvious question someone might ask about your film?: “DID THEY DIE!??”
QUESTION#4: A magic movie genie is giving you an unlimited budget for your next production! However, you're only allowed to use it on either "above line" or "below line" resouces. Which do you choose and why?: I would’ve initially said below the line: Animation is an extremely labor-intensive medium and the more resources I have to hire great artists/staff, the more things I can explore and push in my film. However, my producer would argue differently: She’d want above the line for the genie funding so we can attract the best of the best and the biggest names so we can more easily secure all the funding we need for everyone below the line. Because talent attracts money and financing—or so she says. And I think she’s right (she always is). So I change my answer to “above line”!
QUESTION#5: What is it about your current movie that will influence your next film?: I want to be courageous enough to fearlessly express the emotional experience, to push the subjectivity even further.
