5Q's w/: Brian Russell "SilverSizzle" Director, Writer, Producer

QUESTION#1: What excited you the most when making this film?: I love older people, and also am terrified of aging. This film helped me explore the idea of living right up to the end, and understanding that even when we loose those who have been with us over years and decades, that life gives us little choice in how things turn out. I was also excited to explore these themes through a slightly absurdist lens. I conceived the story as a vehicle for these five actors, and maybe had the most fun on set of any films I have directed working with this cast.

QUESTION#2: What was the most significant film you've seen AT THE THEATER in 2024, and how did it influence your filmmaking?:Oh boy ... American Fiction, Anora and Juror #2 (Yes ... I was one of the 50 people nationwide who saw this in a theatre!) And I know it said name one, but that is impossible. All three of these films tell stories that felt real, and grounded (well, for the most part.) I am always trying to learn how to craft human drama that feels true ... is true emotionally ... even when the story may not be true.

QUESTION#3: What's an obvious and not-so-obvious question someone might ask about your film?: What made you set an older adult hook-up chase in a cemetery?
Have you ever shown this to senior living facilities to help train staff on normal old adult sexuality?

QUESTION#4: A magic movie genie is giving you an unlimited budget for your next production! However, you're only allowed to use it on either "above line" or "below line" resouces. Which do you choose and why?: Below the line resources because there are tons of great actors who deserve a chance, and there are tons of amazing crew who deserve to be paid fairly.

QUESTION#5: What is it about your current movie that will influence your next film?: This film has a lot more comedy than any of my previous work, so even when directing dramas, my hope is to incorporate for funny moments.
