5Q's w/Michael Charron "Looking Back" Director, Writer
QUESTION#1: Can you describe your film in one sentence?: A man discovers he has a ghost living in the backup camera of his new car.
QUESTION#2: What would you like the BSFF audience to know about your film that they wouldn't consider from it's title?: Our film was an attempt at making a genre bending film. One that takes you on a journey through drama, horror and comedy and you see a full and complete story in under 9 minutes. The idea was conceived as a horror film but in the process of creating it we moved to a more fun and sweet tone and I think it tackles it all well.
QUESTION#3: Can you tell us about yourself and your filmmaking career?: I've been making films off an on for over 20 years as well as playing music in bands and other creative pursuits. The last 6 years have been focused solely on filmmaking and I've been making a short a year exploring different aspects of my favorite genre, comedy. I like to take a trope or established concept and turn it on it's head and make something fun with it that you wouldn't expect.
QUESTION#4: What have you learned in the process of making your film?: How important it is to have such a strong team with a great working relationship. My director of photography and I have been friends since the 5th grade and my post audio/score guy I've also known almost as long. My lead actor and I have been working together for 20+ years but I've also been building a strong team in recent years including Alyssia Rivera and Shaun Swift, people who bring their talent and passion to the project and make it that much more fun to make.
QUESTION#5: What's does the future hold for this film and you?: We just premiered this film in November so we're early in the process but we've gotten tons of great feedback and we're excited to see where we can go with it! Working to get the same team together to shoot a new short in early Spring, so we're definitely not slowing down.
