5Q's w/Verve Reposar "Apollo Boy" Director, Writer, Producer

QUESTION#1: Can you describe your film in one sentence?

Two adult siblings separated by life stay connected through the modern fairytale of, "Apollo Boy", the boy on the moon, injecting everyday routine with the magical and alien.

QUESTION#2: What would you like the BSFF audience to know about your film that they wouldn't consider from it's title?

Fairytales are meant to bring magic, wisdom, and understanding to everyday lives. "Apollo Boy" reflects the precious magic fighting to survive in "sister's" very normal routine while separated from her brother. The more the magic dies, the farther Apollo Boy drifts away, taking her brother with him.

QUESTION#3: Can you tell us about yourself and your filmmaking career?

Paige Jones and I have been filmmaking-soul-sisters from day one! We've produced, directed, written, and acted in several short films, while working on pre-production for longer-form films and tv shows for the future. We both attended the same work-exchange college where we studied Media Production and worked jobs on and off campus to pay for our education. "Apollo Boy", along with two other short films, "Calypso's Island" and "Bridge Burners" were three of those jobs the college helped us produce. Paige and I also studied news reporting and English, working in the field, attending conventions, and earning awards along the way, including student Emmy Awards and film festival wins. At college, Paige and I assembled our team of passionate cast and crew that we continue to work with to this day. Since graduating, Paige lives in Missouri with her husband and I reside in New York city. We both commute back and forth to continue pre-production on future projects.

QUESTION#4: What have you learned in the process of making your film?

Paige and I made "Apollo Boy" for a 72 hour film challenge... meaning we only had 72 hours to write, shoot, and edit this project during the busiest week of my last semester at college. Making a film in 72 hours teaches a person to either love or hate the craft, and it's safe to say the experience set us on FIRE for love. The late nights and early mornings, filming in between finals, taking a quick break for Spring Formal and coming back to film more at 2am all contributed to "Apollo Boy" being one of our proudest achievements. I also felt the storyline itself was so powerful and beautiful because of its simplicity. As a writer, it's taken me a long time to reach that point with a script where the simplicity of story births the ultimate gut-punch of emotion.

QUESTION#5: What's does the future hold for this film and you?

"Apollo Boy" represents our blood on the mat and our love for the craft. So far, our little-film-that-could has gained incredible feedback and attention from highly respected professionals in the film world who Paige and I hope to work with in the future.
