5Q's w/Anthony Newen "Mother: a visual poem" Director, Writer, Producer
QUESTION#1: Can you describe your film in one sentence?
A daughter comes home to take care of her mother who has Alzheimer's.
QUESTION#2: What would you like the BSFF audience to know about your film that they wouldn't consider from it's title?
I wrote this film while thinking of my aging mother who at some time will not remember as well as she used to. I left home at a young age to pursue my career and have always thought about coming home to take care of my mother. There is guilt in leaving my family, but it's also hard to be at home away from my career goals.
QUESTION#3: Can you tell us about yourself and your filmmaking career?
I recently had a film titled "Fortune" play at the Borrego Springs Film Festival. I continue to write and direct short films, and have worked with many brands to bring their branding and message across to their customers.
QUESTION#4: What have you learned in the process of making your film?
The most important thing I learned while making this film is: make your film personal to you. When the message and meaning of a film is personal to the creator, the stronger the connection you will find with your audience.
QUESTION#5: What's does the future hold for this film and you?
This film is one of my most personal films I've made and I hope this film guides me to make more films with just as much heart and emotional value.
