5Q's w/Betty Allen and Andy Woodward "Undecided" Directors
#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?
Undecided focuses on the struggle over the idea of becoming a mother when faced with the possibility of being unexpectedly pregnant.
#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
Undecided explores three women’s different journeys and choices when it comes to the question of motherhood. Not everyone in the room is “undecided” which leads to a conversation many are unable to safely have.
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
I am an independent short filmmaker that graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in Film. Most of my movie making time is actually spent as an editor for other people’s projects, but love when I get a chance to hop in the creative front seat.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
A lesson I learned was if you spend the time casting the right people and creating a space where they are free to try different things in front of the camera, that your film will be so much better for it. I loved working with these actors and their value shines beyond what I could’ve imagined.
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
Hopefully the future of this film is to reach as many people as possible in the short film festival circuit and online. Access to reproductive rights in America has never been so at risk and education emphasizing the importance of easily accessible abortions vitally important. We must keep fighting, keep having hard conversations, and keep reproductive rights as an essential freedom.
