5Q's w/The Filmmakers of "Eat Wheaties!"
Here are the 5 questions answered by Director/writer/producer Scott Abramovitch, Producer David J. Phillips, and Executive Producer Daniel Norris Webb:
#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?
“Eat Wheaties!” is a hilariously awkward award-winning and critically-acclaimed comedy led by Tony Hale, featuring a bunch of beloved actors.
#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?
Scott: Eat Wheaties! is about a guy- Sid Straw- who tries too hard and says too much in his efforts to connect with those around him. I hope the audience watch Sid without judgment and see his best intentions instead of his worst instincts and then take that same sentiment out with them into the real world.
David: Though this film is a comedy, there is a lot more heart than many expect going into it.
Dan: This film, written by Scott, was an adapted screenplay from the book "The Locklear Letters" by the amazing Michael Kun. He is a great guy and can even be seen in the film playing the role of Professor Katz.
#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.
1. Scott: I began my film career as a writer, with my first job in animation at Disney. When I left the company I co-founded Breaking Ball Films where I wrote and produced the Sony feature film The Calling starring Susan Sarandon. Eat Wheaties! is my first feature film as a director.
2. David: I started as an actor doing Shakespeare in Canada but after acting in a few films I became much more interested in producing them. I've now produced 15 films including "Badsville" and "The Maestro" - both of which screened at The Borrego Springs Film Festival!
3. Dan: Went to film school in New York before immediately moving to LA and Producing, Directing, and Editing content ever since.
#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?
1. Scott: Film is a collaborative medium from development through post production so surround yourself with talented and hardworking people and be open minded.
2. Dan: Always keep a can-do attitude and even the largest of tasks can be managed if you take it one step at a time.
3. David: No matter the film, it is always a very long process - so working with great guys you get along with like Dan and Scott makes it a lot easier.
#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?
1. David: 'Eat Wheaties!" will be available on all platforms like Amazon and iTunes, and look for it on Crackle Plus. For myself, I just helped produce a cool indie in Canada called "Impasse", but the highlight of last year was being the officiant at Dan's wedding!
2. Dan: Look for Eat Wheaties! everywhere that Dave mentioned and tell your friends! I recently got married in October and have been developing a patent that I have into a new company while also working on getting another film off the ground soon.
3. Scott: I am excited for the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to see Eat Wheaties! and am hard at work to get the next film into production soon.
