5Q's w/Paige Locke "Misfit M." Executive Producer

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

Set in 1961, you'll learn a story about Marilyn Monroe that never made headlines, and all in her own words.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

Misfit M. highlights four days in the life of the worlds' most famous woman, Marilyn Monroe. The films' screenplay is 100% taken from a letter Monroe wrote in 1961 in which she reminisces on an experience she was not privy to. It also sheds light on the abuse and mistreatment of mental health.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

I am an actor from Toronto ON who, when not in front of the camera, is also a producer, location manager and occasional grip. I'm also a trained soprano and portrait artist, so fortunately fairly well-rounded in the arts. I've been acting professionally for a decade and producing since 2018. Misfit M. is my first film as an executive producer. Since then, a film I produced titled 8+ Weeks premiered with Canadian Film Fest and the indie feature Brooke & Sam, written & directed by Ally Pankiw, recently entered post-production.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Don't try to rush the post-production process. Not every project is the same .Some need to be massaged out more than others. Misfit M. is not a linear narrative so there was a lot of freedom with the edit, and it took time and care to structure the film as effectively as we could, "we" being myself and co-director/DOP/editor Austin Ball.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

This is Misfit M.'s 22nd and final festival! The hope is that it will survive online indefinitely.
