5Q's w/Jim Ford "Small World" Director

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

Small World is a fun, short comedy about two strangers who meet in a faraway land and realize they’re from the same tiny town.

It may seem crazy but its based on a true story… sort of.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

The look was real. We spent a lot of time trying to make the location feel very far away and exotic. We scouted over 70 bars before finding one that had the right look. We also did a casting for the background people to all be from different countries. They are from Japan, India, Cuba, Mexico, Korea and the Caribbean. We really wanted it to feel foreign but also non-specific.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

I have been a full time actor and stuntman for the last 15 years. I have been making films and sketches since I was a young kid.

In between working in film and TV, I love making short films.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Have fun!

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

Small World, has played in over 25 film festivals so far. It will continue to play at festivals for a while. I just finished another short that takes place entirely on a boat. I will hopefully be traveling with that soon. I recently published a book, MY TAKE ON ALL FIFTY STATES. It's a daring memoir, that talks about working and traveling in the film/television industry.

I have been doing a lot of interviews and podcasts to promote the book along with the short films. You can also see me on HULU, in the season 2 finale of Wu-Tang: An American Saga. I play a bartender who has some words with the main character after he becomes unruly.
