#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 280 characters?

Two Black Coffees is a film noir, a love triangle, set in the timeless city of Prague. A damsel, desperate to escape her domineering husband, has a moment of chance to execute a simple plan whilst her secret lover awaits.

If you like noir with a dark twist, you might like it!

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

I hope people will enjoy this film. It was shot in monochrome in a wonderful setting. The story is told in a non-linear timeline, with some interesting special effects and visual effects to keep the audience guessing. It's a contemporary take on classic noir, that could be set in any time period. We were lucky to have an incredible cast!

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

I’m from London, and grew up working in the industry on features in the Art department. I started directing at RSA Films in 2009, before making the switch to narrative TV where I directed 26 episodes of 2nd unit for the Netflix Original series BORGIA between 2010-15. I’ve been lucky to live and work on a wide range of film, television and commercial productions across the USA, Canada and several countries in Europe.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

To be honest, I always wanted to write and direct my own narrative work, but was afraid to do it. I was really lucky to be working on BORGIA, in a beautiful location, surrounded with great people, who encouraged me to pull my head out of the sand and get going. All of the lead cast on the show were happy to help with this project, which came out far better than I could have imagined. I am forever thankful to all of them, including the producers who supported me as well. So I guess the biggest lesson I learned was to literally go for it!

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

Two Black Coffees is doing well on its festival circuit, fingers crossed it screens at several more festivals in 2019. After that, I would love it to get some distribution. I have been writing and directing several other short films, 6 in total, each of which are different genres and shot across international locations. All will be completed in early 2019. I’m hoping that each film will reach audiences on the festival circuit as well. I also have another couple of projects that I hope to shoot in 2019 as well. I feel encouraged to do more!
