5Q's w/Dennis Cahlo "Death and Disco Fries" Director

SATURDAY BLOCK F | 9:30 am

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 280 characters?

Life, Love, Regret, Death, Disco Fries, and a gym teacher.

#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

Most people know from the title it will make them laugh but with an unexpected turn, many don't see the emotional ending the film holds. Yes, it's a romantic comedy but one that will make you wonder if you've lived your life with truly no regrets.

#3: What is your movie making background? Tell us about yourself.

I've been a movie buff for a long time. My first experience with real cinema was when I happened upon 2001: A Space Odyssey on PBS when I was 6 years old. That changed the way I looked at film at a very young age. I've been many things in this life. A musician, a photographer, an almost rock star, but found that storytelling is where I belong. To sit in a theater and share the beautiful, communal space of a film is a religious experience for me. With my first short film "The Weekend" I began to understand how great a story can affect those in an audience watching it.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Always have storyboards, an amazing AD, and very comfortable shoes.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

"Death (And Disco Fries)" is ramping up for a 2019 release and I'm about to go into production for my 3rd short film. The future so far looks pretty great from where I am standing!
