#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 280 characters?

This journey to the underworld may be of interest to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.


#2: What do you want the Borrego Springs Film Festival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

I don’t like obvious titles. I hope this one captures your imagination and makes you wonder about it enough to come see it. 



#3: What is your movie making background?  Tell us about yourself.

I came to film through modern dance, which is actually a pretty good entry point, I think. As a choreographer I was trained to feel dynamic rhythm and see moving images in the rectangular frame of the proscenium stage. These skills are completely transferable to filmmaking.

I make my films in environments that inspire my imagination. The physical opportunities and limitations of the environment suggest movement possibilities, camera angles and framing. The cultural and personal associations I have with the environment suggest what I call “abstract narratives” that inspire editing choices.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

Follow the process— it knows more than you do about what your film wants and NEEDS to be.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

Wish I knew the answer to this question. Maybe a trip to India —we just won a first prize in the monthly edition of the Virgin Spring Cine Fest in Calcutta. The annual competition for all the monthly winners is in November 2019. It would be great to see how an Indian audience responds to this film!
