5Q's w/David E. Scheerer "The Anza Borrego Desert" Director

#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

Join Jane Fonda on a visually stunning tour of the Anza Borrego Desert that tells the amazing story about why the unbelievably powerful force of nature that built this bioregion remains hidden from view.

#2: What do you want the Borrego FilmFestival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

In just 17 minutes this film catches the “essence” of the Anza Borrego Desert with mind-blowing cinematography, amazing scientific insights, and an extraordinary original score by Grammy Award-winning Jazz Artist, Pat Metheny.

#3: What is your movie making background?  Tell us about yourself.

David Scheerer has directed, produced and scripted award-winning fiction and documentary films for twenty-five years.  His work has screened theatrically and in public exhibition and broadcast venues like The Discovery Channel, PBS and the BBC.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

This film was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation as a collaboration of film and music artists and a broad range of scientists whose expertise informed the content.  We successfully reconciled this occasionally disparate collaboration effectively.

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

The film will soon premiere at the Borrego Springs Visitor Center (free of charge for visitors to the park) and will be made available to every California classroom and an online link for purchase at calegacy.org.  Scheerer is producing another film series on Marine Protected Areas of California’s Pacific Coast.
