#1: Can you describe your movie and why somebody should see it in less than 140 characters?

Winter’s Journey is about the last station of a man’s life and the understanding that his ending belongs only to him.

#2: What do you want the Borrego FilmFestival audience to know about your film that isn’t obvious from its title?

During most of life you are the person responsible for your own decisions. When it comes to the evening of one’s life, when suddenly others make decisions for you, your dignity is threatened. I believe that should not happen, I want to stay self-determined. 

#3: What is your movie making background?  Tell us about yourself.

I studied film at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany. at the same time I started working as a first assistant director. After film school I also worked on my own projects, like scripts and short films, which I am also writing, producing and directing. Making independent short films without TV stations, studios or other determinant institutions gives me the most possible freedom.

#4: What was the biggest lesson learned in getting your film made?

I had a specific plan and a direction for this movie. But, for many reasons behind the scenes, situations took another direction, and I had to realize that the “wrong" path is often more of an opportunity than a mistake.  

#5: What does the future hold for your film and you?

I hope to contribute to the discussion of self-determined death at the end of one’s life. As a next project, I’m considering making a comedic drama feature length film using this subject.
