Bad

Originally envisioned as a music video for the song, “Past Perfect,” the project evolved into the hybrid short film “Bad.”  It begins as a music video with a “cowboy” wandering and singing about escaping his past.  This is interrupted by a kind of psychological drama - with a disaffected “dude” being tormented by some unseen voice.  The cowboy and the dude are played as two parts of the same personality.

Both storylines are set in the Anza-Borrego desert, a grandiose backdrop for their narrative arcs as they collide into each other, leaving us questioning the meaning of our existence and the illusory world we inhabit.

Writer/Actor:

Matt Bosson is a musician, writer, director, and former graphics supervisor on TV’s Grey’s Anatomy, a position he held for 15 years, as well as on numerous other shows and movies, including House MD, 24, Private Practice, and Chicago Hope. Matt wrote and directed the short film, Desperate Manny, which was released in 2015.  It was selected at several film festivals – including the Borrego Springs Film Festival – and won an award for best actor.  It has been distributed in various streaming platforms around the world.

Matt is also a singer/songwriter.  Having played guitar or bass guitar in multiple bands over the years, he and his wife Leslie formed a country-rock group in LA, The Running Kind.  Their album, “The Girl for All the World,” was released in 2010 and received worldwide critical acclaim.  Since then, Matt Bosson recorded a solo EP in 2019, “Sun Burns from Outer Space,” and a collaboration with LA band Ghost Town, “Volume 1,” in 2020.  Both can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Bandcamp.  “Past Perfect” will be released with Ghost Town on “Volume 2,” coming in 2023.

Having lived in Los Angeles for the better part of 30 years, he and Leslie moved to Borrego Springs full-time in the winter of 2021 and have never been happier!
