Messengers

Messengers is about how there are a lack of mental health counselors in California Public Schools and around the country. For every 682 students there is only one counselor, on average, in California Public Schools. The film follows parents and students who are doing something about it.

Director Biography

I attended the University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Journalism on the documentary film track, graduating in May 2022. I graduated from the University of Oregon and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in September 2019 in Journalism and International Studies. I am a first-generation college student from Oregon. I want to become an audiovisual editor. I hope to help oppressed groups of people such as women experience more equality and equity within the world through a feminist and intersectional lens. My other interests are social justice, k-12 education, politics, mental health and climate change.
